Scarlett Design Placement Year

As part of my sandwich course through university I undertook a placement year at Scarlett Design. The consultancy specializes in both furniture and pattern design, though I worked mainly in the furniture design side of the business, creating commercial pieces of furniture for the likes of Heals, Made.com, Mama's and Papa's and many more. Below I have shown a few of the design's I worked on whilst at Scarlett design. These have been used with the expressed permission of Rob Scarlett.

Through this placement I developed skills in 3ds max, Auto CAD and in professionally presented sketching. Professionalism was a key factor in the placement. Being able to translate designs through technical drawings and visual representations to clients and manufactures clearly was a major aspect of the role. This was also true through verbally presenting the ideas with clients and discussing ways in which they could be improved. Taking in feedback and working on improvements ensured that each design was perfect. This way of designing carried through into my final year, and has proved to have improved the way I design dramatically
